Detailed explanation-1: -The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to provide accessible, affordable and quality health care to the rural population, especially the vulnerable groups.

Detailed explanation-2: -One of the key strategies under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM) is having a Community Health Volunteer i.e. ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) for every village with a population of 1000. Detailed guidelines have been issued by the Government of India in matter of selection and training of ASHA.

Detailed explanation-3: -ASHA will mobilise the community and facilitate them in accessing health and health related services available at the Anganwadi/sub-centre/primary health centers, such as immunisation, Ante Natal Check-up (ANC), Post Natal Check-up supplementary nutrition, sanitation and other services being provided by the government.
