Detailed explanation-1: -The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016.

Detailed explanation-2: -The 60th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 60) will discuss the priority theme, ‘Women’s empowerment and its link to sustainable development, ’ and will also review the agreed conclusions from CSW 57 on ‘the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls’.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.

Detailed explanation-4: -The sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 6 to 17 March 2023. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are invited to contribute to the session.

Detailed explanation-5: -Forty two years ago, in 1971, the Ministry of Education and Social Welfare, Government of India also appointed the Committee on the Status of Women in India (CSWI) to study the status of women in India. The Ministry was acting on a UN request for a status of women report for International Women’s’ Year in 1975.
