Detailed explanation-1: -Tata Chemicals’ Aniali Limestone Mine in Porbandar, Gujarat, has been conferred with a 5-Star Rating by the Ministry of Mines, GOI, at the 6th National Mineral Conclave by Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Mines.

Detailed explanation-2: -A five-star rating, the highest in the rating scheme, is given to mines which perform best on parameters such as scientific, efficient and sustainable mining, compliance with approved production, land, resettlement and other social impacts.

Detailed explanation-3: -Rating of one to five stars would be given to the mines by IBM. The best performing leases would be given 5 Stars. Under this system, a provisional ‘Star Rating’ would be awarded on self-certification basis of the evaluation template, filed by the mining lessee.

Detailed explanation-4: -’A’ category mines : all mines excluding ‘B’ Category mines. B’ category mines : all ‘B’ Category mines excluding very small ‘B’ category mines i.e. manual opencast mines not using explosives and where the average daily employment ( as per explanation furnished in MCDR, 1988) does not exceed 25.
