Detailed explanation-1: -In 2016, the WHO Region of the Americas was the first Region of the World Health Organization (WHO) to be declared free of the endemic transmission of measles virus by the International Expert Committee (IEC) for documenting and verifying measles, rubella and the congenital rubella syndrome in the Americas.

Detailed explanation-2: -The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that measles and rubella have been eradicated from Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Detailed explanation-3: -The global increase in vaccination coverage for measles and rubella has substantially reduced infections and disease burden. Measles has been eradicated from 81 countries and rubella from 93 countries as of January 2021.
