Detailed explanation-1: -The Central Agricultural University (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was introduced in Lok Sabha by Mr. Sudarshan Bhagat, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on August 5, 2016. The Bill proposes to amend the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992.

Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, the first Agriculture University of the nation, in 1960 was a symbolic expression of collective will of people of India to march towards self-sufficiency in food production through integrated teaching, research and extension.

Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, was established in Pantnagar (then in Uttar Pradesh, now in Uttarakhand). It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru on 17 November 1960.
