Detailed explanation-1: -"India will preside the eighth edition of the Convention of Parties of WHO which will be held in Geneva, ” said a senior official from the Health Ministry. The World Health Organisations Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) is the world’s biggest convention to frame the anti-tobacco policies.

Detailed explanation-2: -The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) is the first international treaty negotiated under the auspices of WHO. It was adopted by the World Health Assembly on 21 May 2003 and entered into force on 27 February 2005.

Detailed explanation-3: -The FCTC is a legally binding treaty that requires countries bound by the treaty-or Parties-to implement evidence-based measures to reduce tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke. There are 182 Parties to the FCTC as of April 2021.
