Detailed explanation-1: -The Committee on the Reform of the Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act, 1956 (Chair: Dr. Aravind Panagariya) submitted its report in August 2016. It was set up under the NITI Aayog to examine the provisions of the IMC Act and provide recommendations to improve the outcomes of medical education .

Detailed explanation-2: -National Medical Commission (NMC) is an Indian regulatory body of 33 members which regulates medical education and medical professionals. It replaced the Medical Council of India on 25 September 2020.

Detailed explanation-3: -Section 3(1) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 provides for constitution and composition of the Council consisting of the following:-( a) One member from each State other than a Union Territory to be nominated by the Central Government in consultation with the State Government concerned.

This Act provides constitution of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the maintenance of a Medical Register for India and for matters connected there with. The act is amended in 1964 and 1993.
