Detailed explanation-1: -London has topped the 2016 Global Power City Index for the fifth consecutive year with Mumbai ranked 39th on the list of the world’s leading global cities for business, innovation and culture, according to a report released today.

Detailed explanation-2: -In addition to the top five cities-London, New York, Tokyo, Paris and Singapore, in that order-other notable cities included Melbourne (#9), which was ranked in the top 10 for the first time, and Dubai (#11), which has made great strides in enhancing its cultural interaction.

Detailed explanation-3: -What is the GPCI? Given the global competition between cities, the Global Power City Index (GPCI) evaluates and ranks the major cities of the world according to their “magnetism, ” or their comprehensive power to attract people, capital, and enterprises from around the world.

Detailed explanation-4: -The GCI’s rankings of the top cities in 2022 reflect the self-reinforcing strength of the world’s leading global cities. The top four cities on the list-New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo-are unchanged from 2021 (see figure 1).
