Detailed explanation-1: -Chhattisgarh government was the first who took the initiative to pass the first food security act in the country.

Detailed explanation-2: -Odisha has been adjudged the top ranked State followed by Uttar Pradesh at the 2nd spot and Andhra Pradesh at third amongst the General Category States in ‘State Ranking Index for NFSA’.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Act is being implemented in all the States/UTs, and on an all India basis, out of maximum coverage of 81.34 crore persons, around 80 crore persons have been covered under NFSA at present for receiving highly subsidized foodgrains.
