Detailed explanation-1: -About SBM. To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put the focus on sanitation, the Prime Minister of India had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October 2014.

Detailed explanation-2: -Government of India provides technical and financial support to the States and issues guidelines. Under SBM (G), the incentive for construction of IHHL was enhanced from Rs. 10, 000 to Rs. 12, 000 to provide for water storage facility for hand-washing and cleaning of the toilet.

Detailed explanation-3: -The objectives of Swachh Bharat include eliminating open defecation through the construction of household-owned and community-owned toilets and establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring toilet use.

Detailed explanation-4: -The mission aims to cover 10.4 million households by providing 0.25 million community toilets, 0.26 million public toilets and a solid waste management facility in each town. Under the programme, community toilets are built in residential areas where it is difficult to construct individual household toilets.
