Detailed explanation-1: -Cabinet approves continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U)-“Housing for All” Mission up to 31st December 2024.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) till December, 2024, a statement stated. Launched in June, 2015, the original deadline for the scheme-‘Housing for All’ Mission-aimed at providing pucca houses to all eligible urban beneficiaries was March 2022.

Detailed explanation-3: -As against the prior deadline of March 31, 2022, the urban scheme has now been extended till December 31, 2024, because only 61.77 lakh houses have been completed so far, as against the total of 12.26 million houses sanctioned under the scheme.

Detailed explanation-4: -PMAY scheme targets constructing about 20 million houses at an affordable price by 31 March 2022. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) has been extended upto the year 2024. The total target of pucca houses has also been revised to 2.95 crore houses.

Detailed explanation-5: -The proposal aimed to extend the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme till December 31, 2024, wherein financial assistance is to be furnished for the completion of already sanctioned 122.69 lakh houses up to March 31, 2022, according to an official statement.
