Detailed explanation-1: -Hallmarking is mandatory for all registered jewellers in 288 districts. From June 1, 2022, all jewellers in India can only sell hallmarked gold jewellery irrespective of its purity.

Notes: The Government of India is set to implement mandatory hallmarking of gold jewellery and artefacts from June 1, 2021. Hallmarking is a purity certification of gold and is presently voluntary in nature.
