Detailed explanation-1: -Deaths. The first death was a 14-year-old girl in Pune, Maharashtra. On 8 and 9 August a 43-year-old man in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, a 42-year-old teacher in Pune and a 53-year-old woman in Mumbai died.

Detailed explanation-2: -India reported its first case on 13th May, 2008. Most of the cases reported subsequently were travel related cases among those traveling to India from affected countries. As on 20th August, 12, 604 persons have been tested so far out of which 2401 are positive for Influenza A H1N1 [Swine].

Detailed explanation-3: -The virus was first identified in Mexico in April 2009. It became known as swine flu because it’s similar to flu viruses that affect pigs. It spread rapidly from country to country because it was a new type of flu virus that few young people were immune to.

Detailed explanation-4: -Severe cases of swine flu can be fatal. Most fatal cases occur in those with underlying chronic medical conditions, such as HIV or AIDS. The majority of people with swine flu recover and can anticipate a normal life expectancy.
