Detailed explanation-1: -Notes: The first ever National Conference on “Mission Mode to address Under-Nutrition” was successfully held in New Delhi on September 19, 2017.

Detailed explanation-2: -The mission is a multi-ministerial initiative and aims at removing malnutrition from the country by 2022. Poshan Abhiyaan is India’s flagship scheme to improve the nutritional outcomes of adolescents, children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Detailed explanation-3: -Various activities were conducted based on themes like antenatal care, feeding of children, anaemia, monitoring the growth of children, food fortification, the importance of sanitation and hygiene, girls’ education, menstrual education, etc. These aimed to cause social and behavioural changes among the people.

Detailed explanation-4: -The POSHAN Abhiyaan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Anganwadi Services Scheme and Scheme for Adolescent Girls under the Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) are implemented by Government as direct targeted interventions to address the problem of malnutrition in the country.
