Detailed explanation-1: -DGQA’s mandate is to provide Quality Assurance (QA) cover for entire range of Arms, Ammunitions, Equipments and Stores supplied to Armed Forces. It is also responsible for import substitution and associates with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the development projects.

Detailed explanation-2: -DGQA is responsible for second party Quality Assurance of all defence stores and equipment, both imported as well as indigenous, for the Army, Navy (excluding Naval Armaments) and common user items for the Air Force procured from Private Sector, Public Sector Undertakings and Ordnance Factories.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) is under Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. This organisation is more than hundred years old and provides quality assurance cover for the entire range of arms, ammunitions, equipments and stores supplied to armed forces.

Detailed explanation-4: -The SSQAG has its Headquarters at Hyderabad and is co-located at ASL Lab of DRDO. The other work centres at present are at Pune, Chandigarh, Delhi and Bangalore.

Detailed explanation-5: -The Chief Quality Assurance Establishment (Weapon Spares) [CQAE (WS)] is a field unit of Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval). CQAE (WS) came into being in May 1970. The initial charter of duties included Quality Assurance of Weapon Spares and Equipment and indigenisation of weapon spares as AHSP.
