Detailed explanation-1: -It has been established by the Ministry of Education to recognise, inspire and celebrate excellence in cleanliness and hygiene practices in schools. The main objective of the award is to honour those schools which have taken steps to fulfil the requirement of Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) programme, under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, is a flagship programme of the Government of India. The e-Governance application used for its monitoring has been developed in-house by NIC under the guidance of the SBM-G programme division.

Detailed explanation-3: -The award will be received by Ministry of Railways jointly along with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner.

Detailed explanation-4: -SBM is being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (M/o HUA) and by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (M/o DWS) for urban and rural areas respectively. These guidelines are for the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).
