Detailed explanation-1: -The receipt of this letter may please be acknowledged. 1.1 In order to promote new ideas and concepts for enhancement of Non-Fare Revenue and/ or improve passenger convenience on IR it has been decided by Ministry of Railways (MOR) to introduce a ‘New, Innovative Non Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme’ (NINFRIS).

Detailed explanation-2: -These include revenue from advertising and monetization of railway assets. All railway earnings are categorised under four major heads i.e. Passenger, Freight, Other coaching earnings ( parcel and ticket checking) and Sundries which include Non-Conventional sources of revenue including advertising and catering.

Detailed explanation-3: -In railways’ terminology, non-fare revenue, or sundry and other earnings, comprise several segments such as dividends from its public sector undertakings, land lease, parking, sale of scrap, advertisements and publicity, among others.

Detailed explanation-4: -’Operation Nanhe Faristey’has been launched on Indian Railways to rescue children in need of care and protection found in trains/railway station and this is showing remarkable results. During the year 2022, more than 17, 750 such children were rescued by RPF personnel.
