Detailed explanation-2: -This year’s monsoon season – June 1 to September 30 – is officially over. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 2022 saw 6% more than rainfall than the long period average (LPA). Under IMD’s classification, this quantum of rainfall is defined as a normal monsoon.

Detailed explanation-3: -The India Meteorological Department (IMD), meanwhile, predicted that the northeast (winter) monsoon season (October-December) rainfall over south peninsular India is “most likely to be ‘normal’ at 88%-112% of the long period average.

The actual rainfall over Northwest India, Central India, Northeast India, South Peninsula and Monsoon Core Zone were 104%, 119%, 82%, 122% and 120 % of the LPA respectively.
