Detailed explanation-1: -Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday entered into an agreement with Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL) for implementing Centre’s rural internet connectivity programme, ‘BharatNet.

Detailed explanation-2: -BharatNet Project was originally launched in 2011 as the National Optical Fibre Network(NOFN) and renamed as Bharat-Net in 2015. It seeks to provide connectivity to 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats (GPs) through optical fibre. It is a flagship mission implemented by Bharat Broadband Network Ltd. (BBNL).

Detailed explanation-3: -BharatNet is an ambitious project of the Government of India to provide broadband connectivity to all village panchayats in the country. Under phase II of this project all the 12, 524 Village Panchayats in Tamil Nadu are planned to be covered for internet connectivity.
