Detailed explanation-1: -Sagarmala Programme was approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2015 and a National Perspective Plan was prepared by the Ministry of Shipping which was released on 14th April 2016. As of now, 500 projects have been identified at an estimated infrastructure investment of Rs. 3.55 Lac Crore across all the pillars.

The Sagarmala Programme was originally started by the National Democratic Alliance (India) government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2003.
