Detailed explanation-1: -Under the mission, all villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States and Union Territories in India declared themselves “open-defecation free” (ODF) by 2 October 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing over 100 million toilets in rural India.

Detailed explanation-2: -The SBM(G) was launched on 2nd October 2014 to ensure cleanliness in India and make it Open Defecation Free (ODF) in Five Years. It seeks to improve the levels of cleanliness in rural areas through Solid and Liquid Waste Management activities and making Gram Panchayats Open Defecation Free (ODF), clean and sanitised.

Detailed explanation-3: -Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G), the flagship programme of the Government of India, today recorded another milestone – of 101462 villages declaring themselves as ODF (open defecation free) Plus.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for Urban Areas will mainly focus on the cleanliness in Urban Areas and will try to eliminate all these problems completely. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or the Swachh Bharat Mission for Urban Areas is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (M/o HUA).
