Detailed explanation-1: -As many as 1,84,399 Gram Panchayats in the country have been made service-ready with broadband infrastructure under BharatNet, as on November 28, 2022, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.

Detailed explanation-2: -2022, a total of 1,84,399 Gram Panchayats have been made service ready in the country with broadband infrastructure under BharatNet,” the minister said in reply to a question on high speed internet.

Detailed explanation-3: -BharatNet project is implemented in a phased manner to provide broadband connectivity to all the Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the country through an optimal mix of media (OFC/ Radio/ Satellite). As on 28.02. 2022, total 5,67,941 km Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) has been laid.

Detailed explanation-4: -Bharatnet provides broadband connectivity to gram panchayats. Also known as Bharat Broadband Network Limited, it aims to provide connectivity to 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats (GP) through optical fibre.
