Detailed explanation-1: -New Delhi [India], Sept 21 (ANI ): The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has set up a National e-Assessment Centre (NeAC) for assessing tax returns electronically without any personal contact between officials and taxpayers.

Detailed explanation-2: -The guidelines have been issued by the income tax department for limiting the roles of the officers for doing the faceless assessment by creating the National e-assessment centre(NeAC) the primary gateway in communicating with taxpayers.

Detailed explanation-3: -A ‘National e-Assessment Centre’ has been set-up in order to impart transparency, accountability and greater efficiency in the assessment process, thereby controlling the working of assessment smoothly. It is located in Delhi.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Central Board of Revenue as the apex body of the Department, charged with the administration of taxes, came into existence as a result of the Central Board of Revenue Act, 1924. Initially the Board was in charge of both direct and indirect taxes.
