Detailed explanation-1: -On August 20, 2019, Chandrayaan-2 was successfully inserted into lunar orbit. While orbiting the moon in a 100 km lunar polar orbit, on September 02, 2019, Vikram Lander was separated from the Orbiter in preparation for landing.

Detailed explanation-2: -India’s second mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-2 was launched on 22nd July 2019 from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota. The Orbiter which was injected into a lunar orbit on 2nd Sept 2019, carries 8 experiments to address many open questions on lunar science.

Detailed explanation-3: -Chandrayaan-2 is an Indian mission to send an orbiter, lander, and rover to the Moon. The lander crashed in the Moon’s southern hemisphere in 2019. The orbiter is mapping the Moon’s topography, investigating the surface’s mineralogy and elements, studying the lunar exosphere, and looking for signatures of water ice.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Chandrayaan-3 mission will tentatively be launched between June and July 2023. The mission will only be carrying a Lunar lander and rover, unlike its predecessor which carried an orbiter, lander and rover.
