Detailed explanation-1: -The first phase of the project is from 2021 to 2024. Under its sub-project informally dubbed Samudrayaan, India has aims to send three people into deep sea up to a depth of 6 km (3.7 mi) in Indian ocean in an indigenous deep sea submersible having an endurance of 72 hours.

Detailed explanation-2: -Samudrayaan Mission is aimed to develop a self-propelled manned submersible which will allow scientific personnel to observe and understand unexplored deep-sea areas by direct interventions. To unlock the mysteries in the heart of the deep sea waters, India has undertook mega ocean mission ‘Samudrayaan’.

Detailed explanation-3: -It was approved in June 2021 by the Ministry of Earth Sciences. It aims to explore the deep ocean for resources, develop deep-sea technologies for sustainable use of ocean resources, and support the Blue Economy Initiatives of the Indian Government.

Detailed explanation-4: -Deep Ocean Mission with be a mission mode project to support the Blue Economy Initiatives of the Government of India. Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) will be the nodal Ministry implementing this multi-institutional ambitious mission.

Detailed explanation-5: -The Government of India has decided to launch the Deep Ocean Mission – DOM, with an aim to explore the marine diversity in our country, which is still unexplored. This ambitious project will be managed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
