Detailed explanation-1: -As a part of the continuous efforts of the Indian Government to fulfill the housing needs of rural and urban poor, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015 with an aim to provide affordable housing.

Detailed explanation-2: -Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015.

Detailed explanation-3: -In order to achieve the target of “Housing for All” in rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) with effect from 1st April, 2016 to provide assistance to construct 2.95 crore pucca houses with basic amenities.

Detailed explanation-4: -“Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)– Housing for All” Mission for urban area will be 1.1 implemented during 2015-2022 and this Mission will provide Central Assistance to implementing agencies through States and UTs for providing houses to all eligible families/ beneficiaries by 2022.
