Detailed explanation-1: -Under Article 11 of the Indian Constitution, Parliament has the power to regulate the right of citizenship by law. Accordingly, the parliament had passed the Citizenship act of 1955 to provide for the acquisition and determination of Indian Citizenship.

Detailed explanation-2: -Citizenship in India is governed by Articles 5 – 11 (Part II) of the Constitution. The Citizenship Act, 1955 is the legislation dealing with citizenship.

Detailed explanation-3: -(a) who was born in the territory of India; or. (b) either of whose parents was born in the territory of India; or. (c) who has been ordinarily resident in the territory of India for not less than five years immediately preceding such commencement, shall be a citizen of India.

Detailed explanation-4: -The CAA 2019 gives citizenship to illegal migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and lowers the qualification period for Indian citizenship from 11 to 5 years, provided such migrants enter the country on or before 31st December,2014.
