Detailed explanation-1: -The announcements were made by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon. Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship during the National Conference for Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSSs) held on 24th January 2019 at the AICTE Auditorium in New Delhi. The event saw a gathering of more than 700+ people from JSS across India.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), formerly known as Shramik Vidyapeeth is implemented through a network of NGOs in the country since March 1967.

Detailed explanation-3: -Jan Shikshan Sansthan aims to provide vocational training to non-literates, neo-literates as well as school drop-outs in rural regions by identifying skills that have a relevant market in that region. Over two-thirds of India’s population comprises rural citizens.

Detailed explanation-4: -They are not working in isolation but also conduct convergence programmes with different departments. At present, 233 JSSs in 25 States and 3 Union Territories are functional. The annual coverage of the beneficiaries is around 4 lakh, out of which 85% are women.

Detailed explanation-5: -The Scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan has been transferred from Ministry of Human Resource Development to Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in July-2018.
