Detailed explanation-1: -NEW DELHI: Reliance Infrastructure (RInra) Tuesday said the company has bagged a Rs 648 crore contract from the Airport Authority of India to build a new airport at Hirasar, in Rajkot district of Gujarat.

Detailed explanation-2: -The airport is being developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of ₹2,654 crore (US$330 million).

Detailed explanation-3: -Hirasar greenfield airport is an international airport being constructed in Hirasar village, Rajkot, Gujarat. The Hirasar airport is expected to boost industrial growth in the region.

Detailed explanation-4: -The work on greenfield airport at Rajkot in Gujarat is in full swing and is expected to be opened by December 2023. The foundation stone of the new airport at Hirasar was laid down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2017 and was initially scheduled to be opened by March 2023.

Detailed explanation-5: -With a total built-up area of 23,000 sqm, the terminal buildingwill be capable of handling 1,800 passengers during peak hours. With a 3,040 metre-long runway, the airport will be capable to serve Airbus321 type of aircraft and the apron will be suitable for parking of 14 planes.
