Detailed explanation-1: -The Government of India and the New Development Bank(NDB) have signed a loan agreement for lending USD 500 million for the ‘Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System Project’.

Detailed explanation-2: -The project is currently in the construction stage, with work first beginning on the 82.15 km Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS Line. Out of this, the 17 km Sahibabad – Ghaziabad – Guldhar – Duhai section has been prioritized, and is expected to open in 2023.

Detailed explanation-3: -The total cost of the complete project is around Rs. 30, 274 Crores. The line has a total of 24 stations, including the two depots, namely Duhai and Modipuram. Initially, the NCRTC set the target of making the Delhi Meerut Metro operational by June 2023.

Detailed explanation-4: -The 82 km-long Delhi-Meerut RRTS is a semi-high speed rail based transit network which is being implemented by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in the national capital region. Budget 2023 has provided an outlay of Rs 3, 596 crore to NCRTC for the urban transit project.
