Detailed explanation-3: -It is very famous for its nesting beach for Olive Ridley Turtles. It is one of the most important nesting beaches for turtles. The Gahirmatha Marine Wildlife Sanctuary is the only marine sanctuary of Orissa.

Off late, nesting has been observed to start from late January to early February. The turtles choose the narrow beaches near estuaries and bays for laying their eggs.
