Detailed explanation-1: -Central Water Commission has collaborated with Google to improve on the flood prediction systems. It uses Tech Giant’s Earth Engine.

Detailed explanation-2: -CWC was earlier known as Central Waterways, Irrigation and Navigation Commission i.e. CWINC. It was established in 1945 by the Government on the advice of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Member (Labour) in Viceroy’s Executive Council.

Detailed explanation-3: -Central Water Commission (CWC) provides statistical methodology (gauge to gauge correlation) based short range flood forecast. Presently, flood forecasts are issued by CWC at 332 stations (133 Inflow Forecast Stations and 199 Level Forecast Stations). Annually, about 10, 000 flood forecasts are issued by CWC.

Detailed explanation-4: -Central Water Commission had made a small beginning in Flood Forecasting & Warning service in India in November 1958 with . one forecasting station at Delhi, the national capital, on the river Yamuna.
