Detailed explanation-1: -The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) with the assistance of the Centre will take up the upgradation and modernisation 25 fishing harbours in the country at a proposed outlay of Rs 2500 crore.

Detailed explanation-2: -Upgradation of Fishing Harbours: Union Budget 2020-21 announced 05 fishing harbours – at Kochi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Paradip and Petuaghat as hub of economic activities.

Detailed explanation-3: -Four members shall represent respectively the interest of owners of fishing vessels; processing plants and storage premises for marine products and conveyances used for the transport of marine products. Three members shall represent the interests of dealers and persons employed in the marine products industry.

Detailed explanation-4: -To carry out inspection of marine products, its raw material, fixing standards and specifications, training, regulating as well as to take all necessary steps for maintaining the quality of seafood that are marketed overseas.

Detailed explanation-5: -Apeda is responsible for export promotion and development of 14 agricultural and processed food product groups, besides monitoring the import of sugar. MPEDA promotes exports of all varieties of fishery products such as shrimp, prawn, lobster, crab, fish, shell-fish, and other aquatic animals or plants.
