Detailed explanation-1: -Uttar Pradesh brings ordinance to suspend most labour laws for 3 years.

Detailed explanation-2: -This was done to revive economic activity that had been reeling under the impact of Covid-19 lockdowns. The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has empowered the state government to suspend certain provisions of the UP Industrial Disputes Act 1947 and the UP Factories Act 1948.

Detailed explanation-3: -Through this ordinance, the regional government will suspend 35 out of 38 existing labour laws in the state for three years-these include laws relating to labour unions, workplace safety, and disputes regarding working conditions.

Detailed explanation-4: -According to the new laws on labour, the working hours for a day are 12 hours, while the weekly hours of work are 48 hours. That means that companies or factories can work a full week. The overtime has increased from 50 to 125 hours per quarter across different sectors.

Detailed explanation-5: -The Government has formulated four Labour Codes, namely, the Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 and published these Codes in the Official Gazette for general information.
