Detailed explanation-1: -Uttar Pradesh has become the top state in the country to provide employment to the workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme MGNREGA.

Detailed explanation-2: -Employment Guarantee Scheme was first introduced in Maharasthra in 1972−73. The scheme was the first of its kind to give recognition to the ‘right to work’ enshrined in the constitution.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Government of India passed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 in September, 2005. The Act gives legal guarantee of a hundred days of wage employment in a financial year to adult members of a rural household who demand employment and are willing to do unskilled manual work.

Detailed explanation-4: -The MGNREGA was initiated with the objective of “enhancing livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year, to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work”.
