Detailed explanation-1: -Shri Girish Chandra Murmu assumed office as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on 8th August 2020. Prior to this, Shri Murmu was the first Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Detailed explanation-2: -On 7th August 2020, Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG.) Earlier, he was the Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory. Before him, Rajiv Mehrishi assumed the CAG office on 25 September 2017.

Detailed explanation-3: -Girish Chandra Murmu (born 21 November 1959) is the 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India and the external auditor of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He is also the chairman of the United Nations Panel of External Auditors and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.

Detailed explanation-4: -Article 148 - Comptroller and Auditor-General of India There shall be a Comptroller and Auditor-General of India who shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal and shall only be removed from office in like manner and on like grounds as a Judge of the Supreme Court.
