Detailed explanation-1: -Babul Supriyo today announced the establishment of a Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management (CWCM), as a part of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management(NCSCM), Chennai, an institution under the Ministry.

Detailed explanation-2: -On the World Wetland Day 2021 (2 February), India got its first specialised institution - Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management (CWCM) in Chennai. It will work as a knowledge hub for various stakeholders for conserving wetlands that occupy 4.6% of the country’s total land area.

Detailed explanation-3: -Chilika Lake in Orissa and Keoladeo National Park in Rajasthan were recognised as the first Ramsar sites in India. There are 46 Ramsar sites in India, all of which are recognised as Wetlands of Importance under the Ramsar Convention.
