Detailed explanation-1: -I am happy to present a new handbook ‘NITI Aayog-UNDP Handbook on Sustainable Urban Plastic Waste Management, ’ jointly developed by UNDP and NITI Aayog.

Detailed explanation-2: -NITI Aayog – UNDP Launch Handbook on Sustainable Management of Plastic Waste for ULB’s. NITI Aayog and UNDP India launched a handbook to promote sustainable management of plastic waste in the country.

Detailed explanation-3: -This handbook was launched in New Delhi. The handbook provides a comprehensive overview to manage plastic waste by representing and discussing the components of entire plastic waste value chain. It was launched with the motive of spreading awareness amongst the masses regarding the harmful effects of plastic.

Detailed explanation-4: -Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has been mandated to formulate the guidelines for thermoset plastic (plastic difficult to recycle).

Detailed explanation-5: -(3) The concerned Gram Panchayat shall be the authority for enforcement of the provisions of these rules relating to waste management by the waste generator, use of plastic carry bags, plastic sheets or like, covers made of plastic sheets and multilayered packaging in the rural area of the State or a Union Territory.
