Detailed explanation-1: -The government has simplified the process of re-issue of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards by doing away with the requirement of repeated re-issuance.

Detailed explanation-2: -OCI Card Reissue Guidelines (i) OCI cardholder is required to upload ONLINE a copy of the new passport and a recent photo (not more than 30 days old) each time a new passport is issued. The uploading of these documents may be done within three months of receipt of the new passport.

Detailed explanation-3: -(1) As on date, all Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders with valid PIO cards as on 9.1. 2015 are deemed to be Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders in terms of the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 9.1.

Detailed explanation-4: -Mandatory documents for an OCI Application: Copy of Naturalisation Certificate, if applicable. Applicants, who have obtained Foreign Nationality by Naturalisation, are required to submit Naturalisation Certificate (Original) along with the copy.

Detailed explanation-5: -Under process- The application has been registered by the Mission and clearance of the Ministry is awaited. It is usually 60 days for the same. Processed- The OCI card has been granted and the card is awaited. Dispatched- The OCI card has been dispatched to the Mission.
