Detailed explanation-1: -The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved continuation of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Judiciary for further five years from 01.04. 2021 to 31.03. 2026 at a total cost of Rs. 9000 crore, out of which Central share will be Rs.

Detailed explanation-2: -The scheme has been extended from 2021-22 to 2025-26 with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 9000 crores including central share of Rs. 5307.00 crore.

Detailed explanation-3: -About the CSS for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Judiciary: It has been in operation since 1993-94. The Central Government through this scheme augments the resources of the State Governments for construction of court buildings and residential quarters for Judicial Officers (JO) in all the States / UTs.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Districts and Subordinate Judiciary has been in force since 1993-1994. The central scheme was devised to address the justice delivery needs in the aftermath of India’s economic liberalisation in 1991.
