Detailed explanation-1: -The Campaign, led by UNFPA, involves a wide range of partners and over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Arab States. Campaign launched in 2003 by UNFPA with partners, Campaign aims to make fistula as rare in the developing world as it is in the industrialised world.

Detailed explanation-2: -In developing countries, obstetric fistula is the result of prolonged or obstructed (blocked) labour, often lasting several days, when the unborn baby cannot pass through the pelvis. The baby may be too big for the pelvis or lying in the wrong position, or the pelvis may be misformed or not fully developed.

Detailed explanation-3: -To that end, the theme of this year’s observance is “End Fistula Now: Invest in Quality Healthcare, Empower Communities!” Obstetric fistula is a development and public health issue, but it’s also a human rights issue, one that grants everyone the right to health and a life of dignity.
