Detailed explanation-1: -In recognition to the notable contributions made by (late) Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the fields of statistics and economic planning, the Government of India has been celebrating his birth Anniversary, on 29th June, as “Statistics Day”.

Detailed explanation-2: -The National Statistics Day of India is observed on the 29th of June every year by arranging seminars, programmes, and campaigns across the country. The first National Statistics Day was commemorated in 2007. Following that event, a proclamation was released in the Indian Gazette on June 5, 2007.
