Detailed explanation-1: -BrahMos missile fails during test-firing, falls shortly after takeoff.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Indian Air Force on Thursday successfully fired the extended range version of the BrahMos Air Launch missile. “Carrying out a precision strike against a Ship target from a Su-30 MKI aircraft in the Bay of Bengal region, the missile achieved the desired mission objectives”, the IAF tweeted.

Detailed explanation-3: -Sources said this was a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. “On 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level court of enquiry, ” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Detailed explanation-4: -It added that an investigation had found that “deviation of Standard Operating Procedure” by the officers had led to the accidental firing of the BrahMos missile. The BrahMos is a nuclear-capable cruise missile, jointly developed by Russia and India.
