Detailed explanation-1: -On the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD-2018), the Maharashtra government has started Asmita Yojana under which sanitary napkins at subsidised rates will be provided to rural girls and women across the state. As stated by state government, the scheme will emerge as a model scheme for the country.

Detailed explanation-2: -Uttar Pradesh. In 2015, the Uttar Pradesh government announced the availability of free sanitary napkins in aided and government schools to ensure that girls do not skip classes when their periods start.

Detailed explanation-3: -The minister took to social media and tweeted, “Rajasthan is the first state to take innovative initiative of distribution of free sanitary napkins under the UDAN scheme and to take sensitive decisions towards the health of half the population.
