Detailed explanation-1: -An alumnus of the National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, AVSM, VSM has now taken over the reins of National Cadet Corps – The premier youth organisation of the country, as its 34th Director General on 27 Sep 2021.

Detailed explanation-2: -Director General NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh said that NCC holds 325 horses to train its cadets to develop the qualities of courage, steadfastness and discipline besides sportsmanship spirit amongst the youth.

Detailed explanation-3: -In fact, even before the NCC Bill was passed by the Constituent Assembly (Legislative), the Ministry of Defence had set up the nucleus of the NCC Secretariat, with Col (later retired as Chief of Army Staff) Gopal Gurunath Bewoor as first Director of the NCC. He took over as Director of NCC on 31 Mar 1948.
