Detailed explanation-1: -In a major boost to ‘Make in India’ and domestic aviation manufacturing, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a transport aircraft manufacturing project for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Vadodara, Gujarat on October 30, 2022.

Detailed explanation-2: -The government announced that a transport aircraft manufacturing facility for the Indian Air Force will come up in Vadodara. 40 of the 56 C-295MW transport aircraft being procured from Airbus Defence and Space SA will be manufactured at the new facility in Vadodara.

Detailed explanation-3: -The C-295 can carry up to 9-tonne of payload or 71 soldiers, and will replace the old Avro fleet in IAF. While the first 16 C-295s are to be delivered in a flyaway condition by Airbus in the 2023-2025 timeframe, the remaining 40 will be produced at the new Tata-Airbus facility at Vadodara.
