Detailed explanation-1: -Almost one in five recent immigrants (18.6%) were born in India, making it the leading country of birth for recent immigration to Canada.

Detailed explanation-2: -According to the report “Portrait of Immigration to Canada”, about 23 per cent of the population in the country is or has been landed immigrant or permanent resident. This is the largest share of immigrants since the country was founded in 1867. As of 2021, the country hosted 8.3 million immigrants.

Detailed explanation-3: -Some 62% of the recent immigrant arrivals were born in Asia, with 18.6% coming from India alone, the leading source country of Canada’s newcomers. The Philippines accounts for 11.4% of newcomers, followed by China at 8.9%. This is the first time India took the top spot of Canada’s newcomers.

Detailed explanation-4: -Almost a third of the new immigrants who arrived in Canada in 2021 were from India - by far the highest of any country. Eight percent of them were from China.
