Detailed explanation-1: -Option [C] Bat : A team of scientists has discovered a new species of bamboo-dwelling bat from a bamboo forest in Meghalaya. It was named as ‘Glischropus meghalayanus’ after the state of Meghalaya, which is celebrating its 50 years of statehood.

Detailed explanation-2: -The nomenclature of the newly discovered species Glischropus meghalayanus celebrates the State of Meghalaya, where the new species was found. A few of these bat species from Meghalaya are endemic to the region.

Detailed explanation-3: -The new species is reported from a bamboo forest near Lailad in Ri-Bhoi district in Meghalaya, which is adjoining to Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary. This genus Glischropus (thick thumbed bat) is the first report from South Asia; the only new discovery from India in over a decade.
