Detailed explanation-1: -The budget under Jal Jeevan Mission for 2022-23 has been enhanced to Rs. 60,000 Crore by the Central government, thereby making it evident, the importance of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ programme.

Detailed explanation-2: -As on date, within a short span of about three years of the life changing mission, over 11 Crore (56.84%) rural households have tap water supply in their homes. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi praised the achievement of 11 Crore Tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Detailed explanation-3: -Under JJM, the fund sharing pattern between Centre and States/ UTs is 100% for Union Territories without legislature, 90:10 for North Eastern & Himalayan States and UTs with legislature and 50:50 for rest of the States.

Detailed explanation-4: -The ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019. The vision of this project is to provide a tap water supply to every rural household by 2024. At the time of the launch, only 3.23 crore out of 19.35 crore rural households had access to tap water connections.

Detailed explanation-5: -Jal Jeevan Mission is to assist, empower and facilitate: States/ UTs in planning of participatory rural water supply strategy for ensuring potable drinking water security on long-term basis to every rural household and public institution, viz. GP building, School, Anganwadi centre, Health centre, wellness centres, etc.
