Detailed explanation-1: -India bans import of 780 sub-systems to promote domestic defence industry.

Detailed explanation-2: -India on Sunday published a new list of 780 components and sub-systems that will come under a phased import ban between December 2023 and December 2028, with the latest indigenisation push covering items used in fighter planes, trainer aircraft, helicopters, submarines and tanks.

Detailed explanation-3: -Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday approved a fresh list of 780 components and subsystems which will only be procured from domestic industry after a ban on their import starts under a staggered timeline of around six years.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Ministry of Defence (MoD) revealed in Parliament, on 22 July, the names of eighteen major defence platforms that can no longer be imported. Instead, they will henceforth be indigenously designed and developed (D&D) by domestic industry.

Detailed explanation-5: -The third negative list contains 101 defence articles including Sensors, Complex Systems, Naval Utility Helicopters, Lightweight Tanks, Anti-tank Guns, Medium Altitude Long Range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (MALE UAV), Loitering Munitions, High Endurance Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and other weapons systems.
